Excerpts 2
“Right now, Mrs. Spencer fits this category. She’s remarkable. Despite her impairments, I find her coherent. Most importantly, she doesn’t hallucinate... I’d hesitate to use the word, terminal.”
“I got your point, doc.”
“What she needs is just peace and quiet. Don’t think of the future... Her spirit hasn’t weakened. She might go on...” And smilingly, he added, “Remember, your mother-in-law is special.”

“...And Roy, why go abroad for studies? You see, once you start earning, you can travel overseas. That’s real, and not just dreams. Roy, dreams can be made real, do you know?”
Harry is right as always. Dreams can be made real.

David crept into his armour of silence, comfortably. However, on the day of Roy’s departure, he told Harry, “Tell him he can do anything without having to beg, borrow or steal... If he did, he needn’t come home.”
Roy gritted his teeth. Beg, Borrow, Steal. That’s all you’ve learnt in life, old man...

And then she almost whispered, “Roy, I think I’m dying...You know it, don’t you?”
Roy sat down heavily. He was beginning to sweat.
She gripped his hands tightly. “Yes, I’m nearing my end. I know it... Roy, I don’t want to be left alone... Please...” Tears streamed down her face and she choked...
He felt her agony as he read the sorrow in those eyes. He said huskily, “I will,” and stood, looking at her tenderly. You’ll be alright... your son will take care of you.

“Do you know what a ripple effect is?”
Roy shook his head.
“You throw a pebble into a pond. It creates a ripple. Soon, you’ll see the ripple move to form another, then another and another... An act of compassion is like a ripple. It doesn’t stagnate. It ripples on and on...”
Her words were sinking in and had their own magic. Roy sat transfixed, lending his ears.
She cleared her throat faintly as words mellowed out of her:
“It’s just Love... Everything revolves around Love. Remember, you exist because of Love until you dissolve in Love...”
Her fingers gently curled around his hand and she smiled so sweetly that he sat entranced as she said:
“You’re a ripple of Love. Reach out to others with Love and... Bear no hatred, my son.”
