Ma... I promise

Excerpts

Jim. A special child? She smiled to herself; one who demands so much attention, one who wants to be the boss, and one who gave her a long, long wait. (p.25)

“Promise me that you will never.” She looked at her son intently. Jim looked at her squarely and said slowly. “Mum, remember, once you said, ‘promises are not meant to be broken.’ So don’t ask me to promise...please.” (p.36)

Junior Carrington, with all his pranks, revealed his soft side as he touched his mother’s heart, with his poetic words. He had written in bold: Mum, You’re my world. And you’re my gift—forever. (p.41)

She took his hand in hers. “Why should it happen after seven years? Remember...There’s a reason behind everything. Those are your words. Believe in what you say...” Her words had their own magic. The atmosphere was calm and serene. (p.63)

“But mum is dead, isn’t she? Does it matter how I behave?” He had retorted. Dead ones won’t know. They can’t see, can they? (p.90)

Jim sighed. His heart cried softly, “Mum, why did you leave me? Why?... Why? Where are you mum?” He bit his lips as tears rolled down his cheeks. (p.91)

Yellow Wings laughed. “We are Light bodies. You won’t see any clothes.” Jim was embarrassed. “Oh, I’m sorry, er... I didn’t want to be rude er. How do I call you?” “As you please.” “Where am I?” “In the world of Light.” (p.114)

It was the kind of voice one could associate with a musical instrument. “I am your Guardian Angel. You shall enjoy yourself with these kids. Don’t panic. I am with you.” (p.115)

Jim smiled with understanding. He said to himself. Grandpa, seeing is believing. I understand it now, but you wouldn’t believe it, if I said it. (p.121)
